In addition, he has developed Well Abandonment Guidelines and has been a decommissioning lecturer at Robert Gordon’s University and for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Leeson had previously spent a number of years in leadership roles for Halliburton, TS Marine, Acteon Group, Expro Group and Shell International.
“We are delighted to welcome Tom to the HydraWell team as we continue to expand internationally. His extensive understanding of the industry abandonment challenges will complement HydraWell’s focus on optimised P&A solutions for our growing customer base.” says Mark Sørheim, CEO of Hydrawell.
HydraWell has developed the high pressure PWC® (perforate, wash and cement) jetting system that can be utilised for slot recovery, re-establishing the integrity of wells that do not have sufficient barriers, and for permanent plug and abandonment (P&A) operations. The main benefit of the PWC® system is that it can install a rock-to-rock barrier in less than two days. In comparison, traditional plugging methods such as section milling can often take 10-14 days to complete.
To date, 16 operators – including major, national and independent oil companies – have utilised the PWC® technology, installing close to 250 plugs worldwide.
